BIG DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE PROPELLS WOMEN’S SOCCER TO ANOTHER KCAC WIN

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Avila women's soccer improved to 7-2-3 (4-1-2 KCAC) on the season after picking up a big 1-0 victory against Southwestern on Wednesday at The Z.

Controlling possession for huge chunks of the game, the Eagles relied on their solid defensive play to pick up their fourth shutout win of the season.

Sophomore Joselyn Clark put up the game's only goal just over nine minutes into the contest.

Applying constant pressure throughout the match, freshman Cali Lasater took the ball into the Moundbuilder's box, spun around and found Clark barreling towards the net as she buried it past the keeper to give Avila all the offense they would need.

Avila held Southwestern to just one shot in the contest as goalkeeper Kenan Ebel and the entire Eagles defense controlled the game and did not allow the Moundbuilders many chances throughout the 90 minutes.

The Eagles will look to make it consecutive wins as they travel to Salina, Kan., to take on Kansas Wesleyan at 2 PM on Saturday.
