FULTON, Mo. – Midland University traveled to Fulton, Missouri, this past weekend for a slate of games hosted by William Woods University. The Warriors went 2-1, falling to William Woods, 26-0, on Friday before bouncing back with two victories on Saturday. Midland defeated Bryant & Stratton College, 60-6, and Campbellsville University, 26-7.
William Woods 26, Midland 0
The Owls opened the scoring with a first-quarter punt return touchdown and added three more scores before halftime en route to a shutout victory. Despite gaining 145 total yards, Midland's offense struggled to finish drives.
Angel Ioane Kaio completed 16-of-42 passes for 135 yards but was intercepted twice. Olivia Dominguez-Millsop hauled in a team-high seven receptions for 58 yards, while Jocelyn Lopez led the rushing attack with 12 yards on three carries.
Defensively, Myana Sigers paced the Warriors with six tackles, including a sack. Naomi Reupena-Tuaiao and Lopez each recorded an interception.
Midland 60, Bryant & Stratton 6
The Warriors' passing attack dominated against Bryant & Stratton. Kaio threw for seven touchdowns, completing 28-of-36 passes. Allaya Livingston led the receiving corps with seven catches for 85 yards and three touchdowns. Also finding the end zone were Emily Ferron, Lylah Elizalde, Dominguez-Millsop, and Lopez.
Midland built a 34-0 halftime lead and continued its offensive onslaught with two touchdowns in each quarter of the second half.
Cydnee Redd and Nadiya Simpson anchored the defense. Redd tallied five tackles, a sack, and two pass breakups, while Simpson contributed four tackles, an interception, and a pass breakup. NaTaija Blaylock added three sacks, consistently pressuring the Bobcats' quarterbacks.
Midland 26, Campbellsville 7
Campbellsville struck first with a first-quarter touchdown and held that lead into halftime. However, the Warriors responded after the break, with Kaio throwing two touchdowns in the third quarter and two more in the fourth.
Four different receivers caught touchdowns. Livingston led all pass-catchers with six receptions for 66 yards and one score. Morgan Kalisek, Ferron, and Sigers also found the end zone.
Defensively, Livingston led the team with six tackles. Dominguez-Millsop and Blaylock each added three stops, with all of Blaylock's tackles resulting in sacks. Reupena-Tuaiao anchored the secondary with two interceptions for 24 return yards and three pass breakups.
Midland (4-4, 1-2 KCAC) will aim to avenge an early-season loss as it hosts Kansas Wesleyan (6-3, 3-1 KCAC) on Tuesday. The Coyotes won a nonconference matchup in February, 33-14. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on March 18 at Heedum Field in Fremont, Nebraska.
