(20) Softball falls to (17) Missouri Baptist on the road

ST. LOUIS – Benedictine Softball hit the road on Tuesday, taking No. 17 Missouri Baptist University in a battle of NAIA Top 25 programs.

The NAIA-ranked Spartans were able to sweep the No. 20-ranked Ravens 4-2 and 3-2 – winning the second game in 10 innings.

Missouri Baptist led 3-0 over Benedictine in the opener before the Ravens scored 2 runs in the sixth. The Spartans answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning to earn the 4-2 win.

Bailey Selvage suffered the loss inside the circle for the Ravens. She gave up 4 runs off 8 hits with 2 strikeouts over 6 innings.

Rhiannon Martin went 1 for 3 at the plate with a double and RBI while Amanda Waymire added an RBI.

In the second game, the Spartans needed a run in the bottom of the 10th to earn the sweep over the Ravens. 

Lily SinghDhillon threw the first 6.2 innings inside the circle for the Ravens. She allowed 2 runs off 6 hits with 6 strikeouts before Selvage threw the final 3 innings. Selvage allowed 1 unearned run off 3 hits with 2 strikeouts.

Alma Garcia went 1 for 4 with a home run and RBI while Chloe Strickland went 2 for 5 at the plate with a double and RBI.

The Ravens return to Ravens Field on Saturday, hosting a Noon doubleheader with the College of St. Mary.
