DAYTON, TN - The Columbia College men's basketball team fell 75-60 on the road at Bryan College in an AAC makeup game on Monday afternoon.
The Koalas were led by junior Thomas Whitley's 14 points on 5 of 10 shooting as he was the only Koala in double-figure points. However, 10 different Koalas scored on the afternoon.
Off the bench, Columbia was led by freshman forward Zach Smith's 8 points and sophomore guard Norman Haynes' 8 points and 5 rebounds. Fellow guard, Cam Lawson also scored 5 points with 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals while junior forward Nakia Johnson finished with a team-high 7 rebounds and 3 assists along with 5 points and a block.
Bryan got out to a fast start leading by 17 early before CC went on a 15-3 run to climb back within 5 points at 17-22 with 7 minutes to play. Bryan, though, would go on to take a 15-point edge at 39-24 at the break. Unfortunately, Columbia could only claw to within 11 points at the 12 minute mark of the second half, 41-52 but could get no closer the rest of the way. CC shot 37 percent overall and 23 percent from three while BC shot 48 percent and 37.5 percent from three.
Columbia drops to 9-8 overall and 2-7 in conference while Bryan goes to 11-4 and a AAC-best 9-1 in conference.
The Koalas return home Wednesday to host Montreat College in a 7:30 pm tip.
