Eagles Take Home 2nd Place Finish in RRAC Tournament

Women's Volleyball traveled to San Antonio, Texas this weekend to compete as the #1 seed in the Red River Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship.

Friday night, the Eagles took on the Wildcats of Louisiana Christian in the semifinals, and emerged victorious in three sets (25-16,25-15,25-17). Volleyball put on quite a show in the semifinal match, combining for 50 kills the Eagles would double the kills produced by the Wildcats. Alanna Deering would lead all attackers with 16 kills with a hitting percentage of .481, teammate Paulina Dobreva would also record double digit kills, with 12 kills with a .455 hitting percentage. Zoe Martinez would assist on 17 of the 50 kills by the Eagles and would record the most assists by both teams for the match.

The Eagles advanced to the RRAC Championship Final where they would face the Saints of Our Lady of the Lake University, the only team to take a win from the Eagles in regular season conference play. The final was played this afternoon in the Mabee Gymnasium on the campus of OLLU.

Despite a hard-fought battle, the Saints would defeat the Eagles in 3 sets (25-23,25-20,25-19). In the first set, the Saints would jump out to an early lead, but after a series of kills for the Eagles, the score was brought within one. The Saints would be able to hold off the Eagles and take the first set, putting them up 1-0 over TAMUT.  The Eagles kept the Saints close in the second set, despite a period of momentum for the Saints. However, OLLU would close out the second set with a 25-20 victory after a handful of attack errors committed by the Eagles. The final set would be the biggest margin of victory for the Saints and would secure them the RRAC Tournament Champion title.

The Eagles earn a second-place finish in the RRAC Tournament. As only the Tournament Champion earns an automatic berth to NAIA Nationals, the Eagles will wait to see if they receive a bid for Nationals. The Eagles fate will be decided during the NAIA Selection Show which will be hosted on November 18th
