VALLEJO, Calif. –
A lengthy seven-game road swing, a block in the Keelhaulers' schedule that includes back-to-back tournaments, starts this weekend when they head to Butte, Montana, to face No. 7 Montana Tech and Carroll (MT) in the Comfort Inn Fall Classic.

Please note that Vallejo (Pacific Time) is one hour behind Butte (Mountain Time): Action against the host Orediggers will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday and continue the next day at 5:30 p.m. versus the Fighting Saints.

This is the inaugural meeting between Cal Maritime and Montana Tech and the third all-time against Carroll.

On November 21, 2014 in Helena, Montana, and Halloween, 2015, the Keelhaulers and Fighting Saints faced one another with each team securing a victory on their home court.

Iron sharpens iron: This is the best way to describe Cal Maritime's non-conference schedule since it return to the court following last Saturday's intense battle at No. 16 Oregon Tech. It will face its second top-25 team, in as many games, when it opens tournament play against No. 7 Montana Tech — a squad that won all four games played this season, all played at home.

Carroll enters the weekend on a three-game slide after starting the season with victories in its first two games; all five were also held on its home court.

By splitting its inaugural pair of games this year, Cal Maritime enters its Montana trip tied with Simpson atop the Cal Pac standings. However, it is fair (and accurate) to say that no team in the league enjoyed an attention-grabbing start like CSUM.

In its season opener, the Keelhaulers set a new school record by scoring 135 points, one more than the previous mark set in 2019. That game vs. West Coast Baptist is a big reason why Keelhaulers are scattered across the league's top five in numerous categories.

Alex Maze currently leads the league with 18.0 points per game; DeAndre Minor and DJ Henry are shooting .750 and .643 from the floor — those are the second- and third-highest shooting clips among all Cal Pac players. Christian Togiai is hitting half his shots from three, that is the fifth-highest success rate in the league.
