Sterling loses to Oklahoma City

Warriors baseball lost to Oklahoma City University 13-9 at home on Wednesday, March 5. Both Sterling and the Stars battled the gusty day and suffered from errors throughout the game with six and five, respectively.

OCU struck first with two runs in the first innings. Sterling tried to keep pace with a single from Andrew Dutro that brought in Tyler Gates. However, the Stars were able to extend their lead with two more runs in the second inning and four more in the fourth.

Sterling battled back with two runs in the fifth inning and four in the seventh to make the score 10-8 in favor of the Stars heading into the final two innings. Oklahoma City was able to extend the game out of reach with two runs off of a single from Hunter Lenochan and a wild pitch that led to Aiden Alexander making it home.

The Warriors were led in batting by Dutro who had three RBIs on the day, Jackson Parmenter also contributed two, while Santiago, Gates and Emmanuel Huerta Cardenas each had one.

Nehemiah House started on the mound for the Warriors. He faced 12 batters, throwing 34 strikes on 47 pitches. He surrendered four hits which led to four runs (one earned) and walked one.

Sterling College's next game will be Friday, March 7 at home against Ottawa University.
