GRAND RAPIDS, MI - UNOH men's basketball hung with Cornerstone Saturday afternoon but ultimately the Golden Eagles were too much to handle taking down the Racers 97-88.
Despite leading for just 53 seconds, UNOH kept the game tight well into the second half with just three points separating the teams with 1404 to play. Cornerstone put together their largest run of the day over the next six minutes outscoring the Racers 17-4 to push the lead up to 16 points. That cushion was enough to hold off UNOH as the margin hovered around ten points the rest of the game as Cornerstone finished off the 97-88 win.
Both teams shot lights out over the 40 minutes as the Golden Eagles hitt 56% as a team and the Racers tallied 53%, the team's best performance since November 7.
Ryan Archey led the team with 25 points on 10-21 shooting dishing out a team high five assists. Antonio King logged 18 points and Jayden Sims added 13. Caleb Chapman led on the boards grabbing six rebounds and scoring nine points.
Turnovers were the biggest discrepancy in the game as the Racers gave the ball away 15 times with Cornerstone turning them into 30 points to just eleven and ten for UNOH.
The Racers will head to Lawrence Tech their next time out to face the Blue Devils in The Don on Wednesday, January 22.
