Lady Falcons Smother Florida Memorial
TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – The Lady Falcons stayed immaculate at home with a commanding win over the Florida Memorial University Lions in three sets 25-10, 25-14, and 25-17.
The Lady Falcons looked to keep their winning streak alive and keep their perfect form at home going against the Lions on Tuesday night in front of a rowdy crowd in Conn Gymnasium. The first set began a little shakily for the Lady Falcons, but the nerves seemed to fade almost as fast as they had begun once the tie at six points was broken. The Lady Falcons were dominating at the net and the Lions had no answer as they dropped the first set, being held to just 10 points after a promising start to the set.
The second set was a tale of runs for the Lady Falcons. They began the set on a 7-0 run, followed by a 6-0 run and consistent onslaught of hard hits and masterful serves. The Lions scored just 14 points in this set, and once again the Lady Falcons ran away with the second set.
In the third set, it seemed the clock had been turned back to the first set with a neck and neck battle all the way up to 14-12. With the crowd behind them and the game on the line, the Lady Falcons homed in and began to run away and hide with this match. Only near match point did the Lions mount somewhat of a comeback, but it would fall short. With a beautiful back set by Madi Lee and a monstrous swing by Carolina Ramalheira, the Lady Falcons won the third set and the match 25-18.
"We played well together and stayed at a high level, and our connection on the court is solidifying more as we go. I can't wait to see how the rest of the season goes," said Cassidy Lee.
