COLUMBIA, Mo. (9/28/24) – The Williams Baptist University women's soccer team took a 2-0 win over Stephens College on Saturday afternoon to open up American Midwest Conference play.
Danarria Thomas opened up scoring for the Eagles in the 39th minute when she buried the rebound off of the Stars goalkeeper after a deep shot from Victoria de Abreu to send WBU into the locker room with a 1-0 lead.
De Abreu struck for a goal of her own in the 60th minute after she got out on a breakaway and slotted the ball into the bottom left corner past Stephens' keeper to extend the lead to 2-0.
Lisa Craig played all 90 minutes in goal for the Lady Eagles in the match, securing 15 saves in 15 chances for the first shutout of her young career.
Next, WBU will return home to take on Missouri Baptist on Saturday, Oct. 5. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m. at the WBU Soccer Field on the campus of Williams Baptist University.
