Pilots Dominate Day, Power Past Central Baptist and IU-Southeast

SHREVEPORT, La. – The LSUS Pilots flexed their offensive muscle in a Saturday evening doubleheader at Pilot Field, rolling past Central Baptist, 14-4, before cruising to a 12-5 victory over IU-Southeast.

Game One: LSUS 14, Central Baptist 4

The Pilots (6-0) wasted no time setting the tone in the opener, using a relentless offensive attack to overpower Central Baptist. Josh Gibson put on a show at the plate, finishing with three hits, three runs, and three RBIs. Ryan Davenport matched the energy, adding three hits, two runs, and two RBIs of his own. Carlos Vega delivered the game's lone home run, a two-run blast, while also recording two hits, two runs, and two RBIs.

On the mound, Draven Zeigler (2-0) picked up his second win of the season, pitching five solid innings, allowing six hits, three runs, and three walks while striking out four.

For Central Baptist, Ryan Dauphine provided a spark with two hits and two RBIs, while Aaron Prince added two RBIs. However, it wasn't enough to slow down the Pilots' offense. Gram Middleton (0-1) took the loss, allowing six runs on four hits with four walks and two strikeouts in 3.1 innings.

Game Two: LSUS 12, IU-Southeast 5

The Pilots carried their momentum into the nightcap, securing a dominant win over IU-Southeast behind another explosive offensive effort. Josh Gibson continued his stellar day, scoring three runs and driving in one. Vantrel Reed and Angel Rodriguez each contributed a hit and two RBIs, while DJ Walker also plated two runs.

Isaac Rohde got the start for LSUS, striking out 10 batters over 4.2 innings, despite allowing five runs on nine hits. David Hankins (1-0) , earning the win with 1.0 scoreless innings and one strikeouts.

For the Grenadiers, Logan Beard led the charge with three hits, two runs, and an RBI. Logan Murphy chipped in with a hit and two RBIs, while Hazel Martinez, Nolan Bowser, and Joel Johnson each added an RBI.

The Pilots return to action Sunday at Pilot Field for another matchup against IU-Southeast. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
