Lady Cougars Grab First Win of Season at Webber International
KISSIMMEE, Fla. — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University softball team (1-2) picked up its first win of the season on Saturday, March 1 at Webber International (3-10) by a final score of 3-0.
It was a pitcher's duel through the game's first six innings as neither offense could put a run on the scoreboard. In the top of the seventh, MVNU's offense finally was able to break through, scoring three runs. With the bases loaded, Bailey Sheets drew a walk, bringing Sophie Durbin home for the game's first run.
Kylie Rohr then stepped to the plate and hit a two-run double that scored Zhari Hill and Brooklyn Krum to put the Lady Cougars up 3-0. In the bottom of the seventh, Nadia Hoffman kept up her dominant performance in the circle, retiring all three Webber batters to secure the 3-0 win.
