SEWARD, NEB. – Morningside's men's basketball team managed to overcome a 47-38 deficit at the hands of the no. 9 Concordia Bulldogs to pick up a 95-88 win in this year's Great Plains Athletic Conference season opener.
Three Mustangs hit the 20-or-better point mark, with two-time GPAC offensive player of the week Joey Skoff leading the way with 26 points. Aidan Vanderloo followed with 21, and Daniel Brocaille had 20 bench points.
Brendan Buckley had a team-high nine rebounds and five assists, Caleb Dreckman had five rebounds, and Vanderloo had four.
The Mustangs travel across town this week, playing Briar Cliff on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. before hosting Doane on Saturday in Morningside's home GPAC opener.
