Union scores 15 in win over UC Clermont

Barbourville, Ky. - The Union Commonwealth University baseball team opened their series against UC Clermont with a 15-7 win on Saturday. 

The Bulldogs totaled nine hits, 13 RBIs, and just two errors in nine innings. Tucker Allen went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Isaiah Pintor, Ernesto Moreno, Raebert De Los Santos, Brysen Vernon, Gunnar Kale, Hunter Pinkston, and Brendan Hillis each recorded a hit.

Moreno led with four RBIs, while Pintor and Vernon had two each. Tomkinson, Kale, and Max Charlton added one RBI apiece. Santos, Allen, Pinkston, and Hillis hit a double each, Vernon added a triple, and Moreno hit a home run.

Moreno had three runs scored, while Pintor, Vernon, and Hillis each added two. Logan Romasanta, Cooper Tomkinson, Sean Cherry, Jonathan Miles, and Pinkston all contributed one run apiece.

Ethan Warren started and earned the win, pitching three innings with four strikeouts, one hit allowed, and no errors. Grayson Makranyi and Gunner Bleha each pitched three innings. Makranyi had two strikeouts, while Bleha recorded three strikeouts with no walks.

 

The Bulldogs are now 2-3 this season, while UC Clermont is 0-1. Up next for Union is the remainder of the series against UC Clermont, which will resume with a doubleheader on Sunday, Feb. 9, at noon.
