LIMA, OH - UNOH men's basketball picked up their fifth win in their last six games holding off Siena Heights, 86-74, Wednesday night in The Garage. The Racers never trailed and only allowed two ties coming in the first three minutes of the game to earn their third straight win and give the program it's first three-game winning streak since December of 2016.
An early 17-2 run opened the game for UNOH jumping out to a 22-7 lead just seven minutes into the game. Siena Heights pulled within eleven, but the Racers went to work again ending the half on a 14-4 run to take the biggest lead of the night, 45-24, into the locker room.
Some second half adjustments helped the Saints cut into the lead again shaving it back to eleven with a 13-3 run to start. UNOH pushed the lead back up 18 but Seina Heights refused to roll over. Over a five minute span, the Saints outscored the Racers 13-0 and made it a three-point game with 7:57 left to play. Siena Heights kept hanging around and the lead remained at three with 5:31 in the game, but from that point forward UNOH controlled the contest finishing 17-8 including the final six points of the night to finish off the win.
Ryan Archey led the Racers' scoring for a fourth straight game finishing with a game high 25 points on 10-17 (59%) shooting. Alex Benson had a strong all-around performance scoring 17 points with seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. Antonio King earned his third double-double of the season putting up 16 points and pulling down ten boards. Caleb Chapman fell one rebound short of a double-double with twelve points and nine rebounds off the bench.
UNOH was slightly outshot by the Saints 43% to 40% but rained in seven three-pointers while allowing just two. The Racers hit 25 of 27 free throw attemtps (93%) and won the rebound battle 43-37.
UNOH will take ten days off for Christmas break before resuming with a non-conference matchup against Taylor on December 30.
