
Volleyball Wins Both Matches on First Day of Volleyesta Tourney
SAN ANTONIO (Aug. 23, 2024) - The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) volleyball squad defeated Nelson University (NU) and Oklahoma City University (OCU) on Friday at the Volleyesta Tourney. The Saints improve to 3-3 on the season.
vs. Nelson University
Basics
The Saints opened play at the Volleyesta Tourney with a four-set win over Nelson University. The Lions grabbed the first set by totaling 13 kills for a .265 hitting percentage. The Saints responded in the second set with 14 kills and only two errors. They hit over .250 in the third and fourth sets to grab the win. They closed the final set with only one error. Three different players had three service aces.

Defensive standouts
OLLU had a total of 44 digs, led by Tina Trevino with 16. Tessa Glick tallied 20 digs for the Lions.
Serving it up
Three different players led the Saints with three service aces apiece. Glick had two service aces for the Lions.

Basics
OLLU continued to play well in the second match of the day. They had double digit kills in three of the four sets against the Stars. The Stars had negative hitting percentages in both the first and second set. The Saints won the first two sets backed by a total of 23 kills. The Stars made a late comeback in the third set to force another frame. The Saints closed the match in the fourth set with 16 kills. They won the frame in an exciting 25-23 victory.
