SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Two first-half goals helped the Morningside University women's soccer team defeat 2-1 on Wednesday at Elwood Olsen Stadium.
Melissa Tsatiris scored the first goal at the 16-minute, 47-second mark of the first half, and Julie Raffel contributed the assist to make it a 1-0 lead.
In the 31st minute, Raffel earned an unassisted goal to double the Mustangs' lead.
Dordt scored in the 69th minute.
The Mustangs (3-3-4, 2-2-2 GPAC) outshot the Defenders 20-8, and the home team took 10 in each half. Tsatiris and Keyera Harmon each took six shots.
Morningside took six corner kicks.
Kyla Syverson picked up the win with five saves.
