Women's Volleyball Falters at Graceland

The Culver-Stockton College women's volleyball team missed an opportunity to improve its postseason chances Tuesday night.

The Wildcats, who are fighting for one of the final playoff spots in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament, lost a five-set thriller to two-win Graceland University Tuesday night in Lamoni, Iowa.

The Yellowjackets, who entered the match with just one conference victory, won the final two sets to claim a 25-20, 22-25, 23-25, 28-26, 15-10 victory at the Morden Center, dropping the Wildcats to 14-11 overall and 6-7 in the Heart. C-SC has played three consecutive five-set matches, going 1-2 in those contests.

Zoe Irvin and Ashleigh Brawley each registered 14 kills to lead the Wildcat offensive attack. Abby Godwin was also in double figures in kills with 12 but also collected 22 digs to record a double-double.

Lauren Bloom also garnered a double-double with 30 set assists and 15 digs. Sam Wright added 15 set assists in the 5-2 set.

Kyla Ellis led the C-SC back row with a match-high 33 digs. Victoria Pollard, who had eight kills, was the fourth player in double figures in digs with 12.

The Wildcats return home this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25-26, for their final two home matches of the season. On Friday, the Wildcats face MidAmerica Nazarene University at 6 p.m. to kickoff homecoming activities at Charles Field. 

On Saturday, C-SC faces Baker University at 6 p.m. and will celebrate senior night before the match.
