Bluefield, Va. – The Union Commonwealth University volleyball team played at Bluefield on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs fell short 3-1 (25-18, 25-22, 22-25, 25-17).
Union's Raquel Kessler tallied 16 kills, which led all players. Emily Shumaker and Berkli Benefield each recorded nine kills. Jasmine Porter accounted for seven kills.
Maddy McGaughey led UCU in assists with 18, while Yanelis Turbi had nine and Sarah Charkosky totaled seven. Nicole Almestica tallied five assists.
Union had four players register double digit digs. Almestica tallied 20 digs, which was tied for the most by any player in the matchup. McGaughey totaled 18 digs, while Kessler recorded 13. Shumaker tallied 11 digs.
The Bulldogs are now 8-15 (6-7 AAC) this season, while Bluefield is 13-9 (8-4 AAC). Up next for Union is a road conference game against Reinhardt on Friday, Oct. 18, at 6:30 p.m.
