Spires Women's Tennis Dominates Friends University, 6-1

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – The University of Saint Mary Spires women's tennis team delivered a commanding performance defeating the Friends University Falcons with a decisive 6-1 victory at home. The Spires showcased their strength and depth, securing key wins across both doubles and singles matches.

The day started strong with the Spires taking two out of three doubles matches. Shannon Finn and Tracy Llamas set the tone early, defeating their opponents 6-3 at #1 doubles. At #2 doubles, Rowen Wiemers and Mia Rojas battled hard, ultimately clinching a 7-5 victory. The #3 doubles match saw Courtney Standley and Monse Guerrero-Chapula secure another win for the Spires, though the final score was not available at the time of reporting.

Moving into singles, the Spires continued their dominance. Tracy Llamas fought valiantly at #1 singles, ultimately falling in a hard-fought tiebreaker (3-6, 7-5, [5-10]). However, the Spires quickly rebounded, securing wins in the remaining five singles matches. Shannon Finn (6-4, 6-3), Mia Rojas (6-4, 6-2), Monse Guerrero-Chapula (6-3, 6-0), and Rowen Wiemers (6-3, 6-1) all delivered strong performances, showcasing the depth and talent of the Spires roster. Courtney Standley won her match by default, solidifying the Spires' overall victory.

With this victory, the Spires improve their record to 3-3 and continue their strong showing in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC). The team will continue on the road this Thursday, March 13th to face McPherson.
