CSUM’s second-half charge falls short vs. Simpson

VALLEJO, Calif. – Cal maritime pulled within 11 points of Simpson in Thursday's Cal Pac Conference game at PEAC Main Gym, nearly negating the Red Hawks' hot shooting in the first half. But SU was able to prevent the Keelhaulers from pulling any closer in a game it won, 75-64, to split the season series against CSUM.

At halftime, Simpson led by 16 after shooting 54 percent overall (15-for-28) and 50 pct. from three (5-for-10). By comparison, three of Cal Maritime's nine field goals were from three.

Jamal Frenchwood finished with 17 points and seven rebounds, both game highs.

Fortunately for the Keelhaulers, they will face an opportunity to quickly move on from Thursday's game since their final Cal Pac road trip of the season will take place Saturday at UC Merced. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m.
