Men's Volleyball Loses Second Straight Five Set Match

The Culver-Stockton College men's volleyball team suffered its third five-set loss of the season Tuesday night in the Heart of America Athletic Conference opener against the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy (UHSP) at Charles Field House.

For the second straight match, the Wildcats captured two of the first three sets only to falter in the final two sets to lose the match. On Tuesday, C-SC followed that script only to to see the Eutectics prevail in the final two set to take the match 24-26, 25-12, 16-25, 25-14, 15-13. The Wildcats are 0-3 in fove set matches so far this season.

The Wildcats had a very balanced offensive attack with Henry Reeves leading the way with 13 terminations. Malachi Gnade recorded 12 kills while Zach Kowalewicz totaled 11 kills. Kowalewicz registered a .286 hitting percentage in the match. Matt Reese garnered 32 set assists.

The Wildcats totaled eight team kills on defense with Kowalewicz with a team-high six block assists. Reeves had three block assists. Cikeng Lee paced the back row with nine digs., while Reeves chipped in with seven digs.

C-SC returns to action this Friday, Feb. 14, with another conference match at Park University in Parkville, Mo. First serve is set for 7 p.m. inside the Brecken Sports Center.
