
Union wins 30-27 at Kentucky Christian
Grayson, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University football team played at Kentucky Christian on Saturday. The Bulldogs won 30-27. Neither team scored in the second half. The Bulldogs have won back-to-back road games.
Union scored four touchdowns in the first half in addition to a safety. The opening touchdown was scored off a 56-yard TD pass from QB Bryson Grabowski to WR Tony Norman. Later in the quarter, Grabowski connected with Norman for a 29-yard TD pass.
With 14:28 to play in the second quarter, UCU's Taji Jackson scored on an 11-yard touchdown run to give the Bulldogs a 23-0 lead.
Grabowski scored off a 27-yard TD run with 11:43 remaining in the second quarter. Union led 30-8 with 11:43 to go in the opening half. Union led 30-27 at halftime en route to the 30-27 win.
UCU totaled 423 total yards and 19 first downs, while KCU tallied 314 total yards and 13 first downs. The Bulldogs accounted for 202 rushing yards, while holding Kentucky Christian to -22 rushing yards.
Union registered six sacks, which included three by freshman Kamren Reese. Kam Bradshaw led UCU in total tackles with seven, while Ty Ellis and Donell Casey each recorded six.
Grabowski was 7-of-15 through the air for 193 yards, two passing touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He also led the team in rushing yards with 93 yards and one rushing touchdown off 12 carries. Jayden Ward recorded a team-leading 14 carries for a total of 58 yards.
DeMarco Hopkins rushed for 31 yards off 12 carries, while Taji Jackson tallied 29 yards and one rushing touchdown off four carries.
Norman tallied four catches for 129 yards and two touchdowns. He led all players in receiving yards. Matthew Underwood totaled two receptions for 41 yards, while Jayden Bratcher registered two catches for 30 yards.
The Bulldogs are now 3-5 (2-2 AAC) this season, while KCU is 1-7 (0-4 AAC). Up next for Union is a road conference game against Point on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 12:00 p.m.
