Point Women’s Soccer invades the Lions for a road win

HENDERSON, TENN. (Sept. 11, 2024) - The Point University Women's Soccer team returned to the pitch for a nonconference game against Freed-Hardeman University where the Skyhawks took the win with a final score of 3-0.  

The first half opened with both teams looking to gain momentum but both teams were held scoreless. The action picked up with Point taking multiple shots on goal to bring some pressure on the Lions. Isabella Fruallaney connected with Bailey Turner for the game's first goal to put Point ahead 1-0. Offensively, The Skyhawks continued to be more aggressive in the second half to put Freed-Hardeman in a bind. Berta Castells entered the fray to score the Skyhawks' second goal to increase the lead by two. As the Lions looked to respond, Lisa Kelm would not let up as she added a save to keep Freed-Hardeman's score at zero. Nolwenn Blain added the finishing touches in the scoring column to score Point's final goal and take the win with a final score of 3-0. 

In the Box 

Point outshot Freed-Hardeman's 18 shots with eight on goal compared to Freed-Hardeman's nine with five on goal. Bailey Turner, Berta Castells, and Nolwenn Blain each scored a goal for the Skyhawks in the win. In goal, Lisa Kelm added a shutout and secured five saves.
