No.18 McPherson (Kan.) Bulldogs Upset No. 10 Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles
SIOUX CITY, Iowa [BOX SCORE] In a thrilling matchup at the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship, the McPherson (Kan.) Bulldogs emerged victorious over the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles in a hard-fought five-set (25-21, 20-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-13) battle.
The Bulldogs Brooke McHale led the way with 19 kills, while Enya Fierens and Hadley Waldren each contributed 10 kills apiece. Defensively, McPherson was anchored by Celestina Retumban, who added 18 digs. Raegan Murphy also tallied nine digs and two blocks.
On the other side, Maia Rubio was a standout performer for the Eagles, recording a double-double with 29 kills and 14 digs. Evelyn Rohrberg also had a strong showing, with 20 kills and one block. Sydney Collins contributed 65 assists.
This is McPherson's second win in championship history.
Oklahoma Wesleyan returns to action Friday against St.Thomas (Fla.) at 7:30 p.m. CT.
