Volleyball Falls to Milligan

ATHENS, Tenn.- The volleyball team returned to their home floor for an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) match on Tuesday. After winning the first set, the team was unable to win another set, falling to the Milligan University Lady Buffaloes 3-1.

The Lady Bulldogs dominated the first set with a 25-21 victory, showcasing stellar play from Shante Smith and Olivia Miller. Smith consistently hammered down kills set up by Alley Hibdon, while Miller's powerful swings kept Milligan on their heels.

Despite the early momentum, Milligan bounced back in the second set, winning the set by a score of 25-16. Amya Sutton and Jia Weathersby tried to mount a response, with Weathersby's blocks creating opportunities, but it was not enough to bring the team ahead in the score.

In the third and fourth sets, Tennessee Wesleyan showed resilience, with Hunter Ford and Janie Merritt making crucial plays at the net. However, Milligan was able to hold the Lady Bulldogs off, taking both sets 25-17 and 25-18, respectively. T

Sutton led the offense with 10 kills in the match. Megan Thompson had a career-high 36 digs.
