
Eagles Grounded by the Generals
TEXARKANA, Texas - The Eagles hosted the Generals of LSU-Alexandria this afternoon for their second conference game of the season. The Generals bested the Eagles with a final score of 77-67.
The Eagles got up early on the Generals with a basket by Freshman Chioma Treasure Emeh and a pair of free throws by Senior Delfina Misuina, but the Generals quickly answered with a three pointer by Jewel Jones. At the end of the first, TAMUT would lead 15-14. The two teams would battle back and forth throughout the remainder of the first half, but the Generals would earn the advantage over the Eagles, and going into the half LSU-Alexandria would be up 27-26. The Generals would begin to pull away from the Eagles, outscoring TAMUT in the second half 50-41. The Eagles fought until the final whistle, being down by as many as 16 with just over two minutes left to play, TAMUT put on the pressure and made a run at the end of the game, but there was just not enough time left and they would ultimately fall to the Generals 77-67.
Leading scorers for the Eagles were Gigi Waddell with 12 points and Kayla Williams with 11 points. Williams recorded her first double-double of the season, with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Eagles move to 0-4 on the season and 0-2 in conference play. Women's Basketball will travel to Pine Bluff, Arkansas on Monday November 18th, where they will take on the Golden Lions of University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff in an exhibition matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00pm in the H.O Clemmons Arena.
