The Eagles hosted the Rams of Texas Wesleyan Saturday evening for their final non-conference matchup before the start of conference play. The Rams would win in overtime with a final score of 92-89.
The Rams would quickly jump out and build a lead over the Eagles in the first half, at one point being up by double digits over the Eagles, but the Eagles, led by Deovaunta Williams would not let the Rams have the lead for long. Throughout the last 2 minutes of the first half the Eagles would create a 10 point deficit for the Rams to overcome. At half the Eagles led with a score of 47-37.
The Eagles were able to hold onto the lead for the majority of the second half, a point differential between the two teams of double digits with just over 6 minutes left to play. The Rams did not concede and with two made free throws by Richard Amaefule in the final seconds of the game, the Rams would force an overtime. At the conclusion of the 5 minute overtime the Rams would have a three point advantage over the Eagles, and would win 92-89.
The Eagles were led in scoring by Deovaunta Williams who shot 6-8 beyond the arc and finished with 31 points for the Eagles. Jakari Livingston would lead the Eagles in rebounding with 7 boards, and Justin Davis would add 5 assists to the offensive mix for TAMUT.
The Eagles next game will be back at home for their first conference matchup of the season versus the (13) Pilots of LSU-Shreveport on Tuesday, November 12th. Tip-off is set for 7:30pm on at the Patterson Student Center.
