LIVONIA, MI - Although both offenses were cold, UNOH fought through a tough night on the road to earn a 61-52 win over Madonna on Tuesday. The win pushes the Racers to 3-0 in conference play, the program's best start since 2015 (4-0).
The first half was tough for both teams with the two combining for just 41 total points in a one-point game at the break. The Racers finally found a flow in the third while the struggles continued for Madonna. UNOH produced their first half total in the single frame taking a commanding lead in the final stanza, 40-27. The Crusaders pulled within two possessions a couple of times over the final ten minutes, but the Racers fended them off each time to finish off the nine-point win.
Jayci Allen led all scorers with 20 points and nine rebounds, also a game high. Alysia Lawson produced her lowest offensive output of the season with 14 points but has scored double figures in all but nine of 65 career games, eight of those in her freshman season.
Statistics were nearly identical across the board with UNOH shooting 34% and Madonna 35% from the field. Rebounds leaned slightly in favor of the Crusaders, 41-38, but the Racers held a slight edge from outside 24% to 19% forcing 26 turnovers.
UNOH will have a week off for Thanksgiving and get back to action with their fourth of four road games at Cleary on Wednesday, December 4.
