COLUMBIA, Mo. (10/15/24) – The Williams Baptist University volleyball team lost to Stephens in American Midwest Conference action on Tuesday night by the final score of 3-0.
Meadow Jones and Tinleigh Ruhman tied for the team lead in kills on the night with five each. Ruhman also racked up a hitting percentage of .455 in the match.
After taking a 4-3 lead in the beginning of the first set, the Lady Eagles conceded an 11-3 run to go down 14-7. Stephens continued the momentum to take the first set 25-14.
The Eagles started hot in the second, taking five straight points behind the strong serve of Alonna Thomas for a 6-3 lead. After Stephens fought back for the lead, a Faith Raymond brought WBU within two, but Stephens was able to close out the set 25-21.
Stephens capitalized on a 10-0 streak in the third to take the match in straight sets. The loss drops WBU to 5-15 on the season, and 1-3 in AMC play.
The Eagles will return to the court Wednesday, October 16 against Columbia. The match is set to begin at noon from Columbia, Mo.
