WOMEN’S SOCCER FALLS IN SEASON OPENER

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – The 2024 Avila women's soccer season began with a 6-0 loss to Dordt in northwestern Iowa on Friday evening.

Avila surrendered three goals on 10 shots allowed in the first frame, including two within the first 30 minutes of play. Dordt closed the first half with a goal with just over three minutes to play in the first half.

Dordt found the back of the net less than five minutes into the second half and added two more goals in the 66th and 85th minutes.

Senior goalkeeper Kenan Ebel made five saves on the night and senior midfielder Addison Yinger led the Eagles with two shots.

Avila will not have to wait long to turn the page as they face Northwestern on Saturday at 5 PM for their second match of the 2024 season.
