Lady Cougars Advance to Semifinals with Thrilling Five Set Victory over SAU

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The No. 16 Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's volleyball team (29-3) began postseason play as the No. 2 seed in the Crossroads League Tournament against No. 7 Spring Arbor University (12-16) on Saturday, November 9 in Ariel Arena.

MVNU started strong, taking set one by a score of 25-17 in front of the home crowd. The upset minded Lady Cougars of Spring Arbor didn't back down from the hosts, taking the next two by scores of 25-23 and 27-25 in two very tightly contested sets. With its back now against the wall, MVNU responded in a big way with a 25-18 set four win. MVNU controlled set five from the jump, opening with a 6-1 run. MVNU went on to win 15-9 and advanced to the Crossroads League Tournament Semifinals.

What's Next:

The Lady Cougars will host No. 3 Marian University on Wednesday, November 13 for a spot in the Crossroads League Championship. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
