Brenau Shoots Past Agnes Scott 86-63

Decatur, Georgia- The Brenau basketball team hit 15 three-pointers to defeat Agnes Scott (Ga.) College 86-65 in a non-conference matchup on Saturday

The Golden Tigers fired away from behind the arc throughout the game as the host Scotties were content to sit back in a zone for all 40 minutes of play. Brenau led 17-9 after one period and extended the lead to 36-19 at intermission. With 1 second remaining before halftime, sophomore Kristina Peach launched a half court shot that hit nothing but net to increase the team's lead.

Agnes Scott rallied with a strong third quarter by shooting 53% from the field,  however, Brenau answered with a strong offensive attack of their own to keep a 15 point lead going into the fourth quarter.

In the final stanza, Brenau shot 4-8 (50%) from deep to extend the lead to 21 and cruise to the victory.

Peach led all scorers with a career-best 31 points, including 8 three-pointers, which tied the Brenau record set most recently by Hall of Famer Autumn Dodson in 2017. 

Freshman guard Aiyanna Peavy added a career-high 14 points and four assists, while senior post Kayla Stafford posted her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 assists.. 

Senior forward Isabella Evangelista also notched a career-best 10 points and four rebounds and sophomore guard S.G. Bertolini added 9 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds.

Laila Williams led Agnes Scott (0-3 overall) with 22 points.

Brenau (2-4 overall, 1-1 AAC) next hosts Bryan (Tenn.) College (2-3 overall, 1-1 AAC) on Wednesday for an AAC matchup at 7 pm.
