Warriors' Early Lead Slips in Finale at (RV) Keiser

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Midland University wrapped up its four-game series against (RV) Keiser University with a Saturday afternoon matchup. After holding the lead through much of the game, the Warriors saw the Seahawks mount a late comeback to walk it off, 8-7, to complete the four-game sweep.

Jacob Liquori got things started in the 1st inning when he was hit by a pitch on the second pitch of his at-bat. Joshua Hardamon and Nate Reyes followed with back-to-back singles, loading the bases. Alec Villanueva then delivered a grand slam to left field, putting Midland up 4-0 after the opening frame.

Keiser responded in the 2nd inning with back-to-back singles and a double to get on the board, cutting the deficit to 4-1.

Hardamon led off the 3rd with a double, while Hadyn Crawford drew a walk to reach base. A sacrifice bunt advanced both runners, and a sacrifice fly brought Hardamon home, extending the Warriors' lead to 5-1.

The Seahawks added another run in the bottom of the 3rd, using three hits to make it a 5-2 game.

Midland kept the pressure on in the 4th. Martinez drew a walk, and Liquori followed with a single up the middle to put runners on the corners. A wild pitch allowed Liquori to move to second, and an intentional walk to Hardamon loaded the bases. Crawford then delivered a single to left field, bringing home Martinez and Liquori to extend the Warriors' lead to 7-2.

Keiser answered in the 5th with back-to-back home runs, cutting the deficit to 7-5.

The Seahawks continued their rally in the 6th, starting with a two-out double to build momentum. Four consecutive walks brought in two runs, tying the game at 7-7. With the bases still loaded, Midland escaped further damage with a strikeout.

After a few scoreless innings, Keiser completed the comeback in the 9th. A leadoff double, followed by a single and a hit-by-pitch, loaded the bases. A single then brought home the winning run, sealing an 8-7 walk-off victory for the Seahawks.

Statistical Standouts

Midland (2-13) will return home and is slated to host Graceland (6-7) in a nonconference game on Tuesday in Fremont. First pitch of the home opener is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Historic Moller Field.
