
Women's Basketball Takes the Win Over ABAC in SSAC Play
TIFTON, Ga. (Nov. 16th, 2024) - The Point University Women's Basketball team traveled to Abraham Baldwin to compete in a Southern States Athletic Conference matchup where the Skyhawks bested the Stallions in a close game that concluded to a final score of 85-82.
Zaria Johnson set the energy for the Skyhawks as she made the first points with two layups back to back following a block. Point reached an 18-8 lead, but the stallions fed off of the Skyhawk energy and added on nine points, seeking to steal the lead at 20-17 at the end of the first quarter.
Both teams strived for more opportunities to shoot and succeeded, bouncing back and forth on the scoreboard. By the third quarter, the Stallions and Skyhawks were neck and neck, but Jada Williams fought to stay ahead by making multiple 3-pointers. Point continued pushing, as Jada Williams made a jump shot assisted by Shakira Wilson which ended the quarter with a nine-point lead for the Skyhawks.
ABAC climbed back up in the fourth quarter, reclaiming the lead. However, towards the end of the game, multiple fouls were committed, which resulted in numerous free throws that favored the Skyhawks' score. After an incredibly close game, the Skyhawks came out on top with an earned score of 85-82.

Jada Williams led with 26 points, eight rebounds, and two steals. Zaria Johnson followed with a double-double with 18 points, 14 rebounds, and four blocks, and Shakira Wilson added 13 points, two rebounds, and one assist.
