CC Volleyball Rolls to 3-0 Win over TN Wesleyan

COLUMBIA, SC - The Columbia College volleyball team rolled to a big 3-0 shutout win over conference foe Tennessee Wesleyan University at home Saturday morning.

The Koalas won the first set 25-19 on 10 kills hitting .164 before taking the second 25-20 on 11 kills hitting .222. Columbia then closed out TWU with a dominating 25-15 set three win on 9 kills hitting .107. CC totaled 30 kills for the match hitting at a .155 clip.

Senior OH Jada Gentry again led the Koalas with 11 kills, 8 digs and two aces while hitting .280. Fellow senior OH Gracie Hicklin then added 9 kills as she also played well hitting .286 with 5 digs and an ace.

Sophomore setter Debra Shephard also registered 27 assists with 6 digs and an ace while senior DS Amanda Velez and freshman libero Katie Roberts combined for 8 digs and 6 aces. Sophomore DS Dani Goings also added 5 digs as well.

Senior middles Destiny Brown and Mikayla Stout combined for 8 kills and 6 blocks. TWU falls to 8-17 overall and 5-10 in the league.

The Koalas improve to 4-16 overall and 3-10 in the conference, their most AAC wins since 2016 when they had nine conference victories.

Columbia will next remain home when they host rival CIU on Tuesday at 6:30 pm.
