
Men's Hoops Comes Up Short in Season Opener at Ozarks
The Culver-Stockton men's basketball team opened the 2024-25 season with an 86-78 road loss to College of the Ozarks Saturday afternoon at Keeter Gymnasium in Point Lookout, Mo.
The Wildcats, who trailed 35-34 at halftime, was outscored 51-44 in the second half, including 18-10 over the final four minutes after the game was tied at 68.
C-SC made three more field goals than the Bobcats (29-26), but Ozarks outscored the visitors 23-12 from the free throw line and 11-8 from behind the 3-point arc. Defensively, the Wildcats forced 13 turnovers while committing just eight of their own, and had nine steals to the Bobcats' six steals.
Four different players reached double figures for the Wildcats with Connor Davis dropping a team-high 19 points. Ryan Stevenson added 17 markers while Nick Spannaus has 12 points and Roee Dinnar had 10 markers.
Stevenson and Tai Walters-Whitaker recorded four steals each while Dinnar garnered a team-high nine rebounds off the bench. C-SC was out-rebounded 36-34 by the Bobcats.
C-SC (0-1) is scheduled to play its home opener this Wednesday, Nov. 6, against Ottawa University (Kan.) of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Charles Field House.
