Women's Soccer battled to a draw at home Saturday afternoon.
The (25) Ravens scored early and threatened late, but finished with a 1-1 draw against the (RV) St. Ambrose Fighting Bees.
The Ravens got on the board quick, scoring in the opening 3 minutes of play. Payton Vogelbacher sent a cross in from the right side that deflected off the Bees keeper's hands and Lizzy Gresch was there to knock it into the open net.
The remainder of the opening half was scoreless with the Ravens taking their 1-0 advantage into the break. Mackenzie Korzenecki made 3 saves in the opening 45 minutes to help keep the visitors off the scoreboard.
Outside of their early goal, the Ravens managed just one more shot on goal the remainder of the half, unable to get another serious look at a goal.
St. Ambrose found an equalizer with exactly 23 minutes left to play, heading in a corner kick to tie it up, 1-1.
The Ravens pushed forward looking for a game-winner, and nearly found it. Hannah Philips tried a long shot that was just a touch too high, then a cross from Christine Znidarsic found Payton Vogelbacher in the box but the tough shot was wide of the target.
Korzenecki finished with 6 saves in goal for the Ravens. St. Ambrose entered Saturday's contest already with a win over Heart of America member Missouri Valley College and a close loss against NCAA member Northern Iowa.
Next up for the Ravens (1-1-1) is a 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4 contest against Dordt University back home on Legacy Field.
