BOTH MEN AND WOMEN FALL TO COYOTES IN CONFERENCE OPENER
Lindsborg, Kan. – Swedes' Tennis played host to the visiting Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes in what was a conference opener for both teams. The feel of a conference opener is one thing, but to add your biggest rival makes it that much better.
Women: Swedes 3, Coyotes 4
In the doubles division, the visitors from the north would take all three doubles matches with the number two duo of Karee Adam and Kyla Metro would have the most competitive match falling 7-6.
In singles, Kyla Metro would put the Swedes on the board first with a 7-5, 6-3 victory in straight sets. Maria Mistereck tied the team score at 2-2 with her 6-3, 7-6 victory as the number two singles player. Makenna Russom would win in straight sets as the number six singles player 6-4, 6-2, but it would not be enough as the Coyotes were victorious in the number four and five spots. The Swedes would fall 3-4 in the conference opener.
Men: Swedes 3, Coyotes 4
In the doubles divison, Zeke Mumford and Dylan Gwilt would make quick work of their opponents in the number two doubles with a score of 6-3. The number three duo of Alexjandro Rico Moran and Carlos Rodrigues Rivas would finish not too long after, but on the wrong side of the scoreboard falling 4-6. That meant that the winner of the number one doubles would take the doubles point. Francisco Bravo and Martin Priban would almost take it to a tie break match, but would fall just short of it losing 5-7. The doubles point would go to the Coyotes.
In singles, Bravo would power through three sets winning 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 to give the Swedes their first point of the match and knot up the team score at 1-1. Priban and Mumford would each fall in their respective matches in three sets and Gwilt would fall in two giving the visitors from the north match point. With nothing to lose, Daniel Lozano would take care of business winning his number five match 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7).
