Montgomery, Alabama- The Brenau softball team split a pair of non-conference games with Faulkner (Ala.) University in a doubleheader on Wednesday..
In the opening game, the Brenau offense continued to shine as the squad pounded out eight runs in the top of the second inning to win 8-6.
Sophomores Allie McGee and Peyton Hawkins each posted three RBIs in the win as the squad outhit the host Eagles 11-8.
Freshman Malorie Watson pitched five innings in relief to pick up her sixth win of the season. The freshman scattered three hits and struck out four over five innings to hold Faulker in check.
In the second game, Brenau's bats finally cooled as the host Eagles won the second game 11-4.
The Golden Tigers managed eight hits, but were unable to string together any rallies in the loss.
Hawkins continued her strong play with two hits and an RBI.
Brenau 11-1 overall overall, 2-0 AAC) next competes at the Gulf Coast Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Golden Tigers will take on William Woods (Mo.) (8-5 overall) at 11 am and Tennessee Southern (5-7 overall) on Friday, then play three games on Saturday.
