Saints fall short against Lourdes University

The Holy Cross Saints faced off against Lourdes University at the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center on Saturday but ultimately fell short, losing 80-66. Despite a strong effort in the first half, the Saints couldn't keep pace with Lourdes' offense in the second half.

First Half:

The Saints showed early resilience, with Nash Hostetler (Dayton OH/Dublin Coffman HS) leading the charge. Hostetler scored an impressive 14 points on 6-for-7 shooting, including two three-pointers, helping keep the Saints close. Justin O'Neal (Dayton, OH/ Dunbar HS) contributed with 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Joey Garwood (Elkhart,IN/ Penn HS) made an impact off the bench with 5 points and 3 rebounds. The Saints fought hard on the boards but struggled with second-chance opportunities, giving Lourdes a slight edge going into halftime.

Second Half:

In the second half, the Saints started strong, with key contributions from Nash Hostetler, Justin O'Neal, and Phil Robles II (South Bend, IN/ Purdue Fort Wayne). Robles, quiet in the first half, added 7 points and displayed determination on both ends. Holy Cross improved its shooting, hitting 50% from the field and 45.5% from three-point range. However, Lourdes responded with a powerful offensive push, extending their lead and pulling away in the final minutes. Despite balanced scoring and effort from the Saints' roster, Lourdes' offensive consistency proved too much to overcome.
