Men's Basketball Falls to WVU Tech

PIKEVILLE, Ky.- The men's basketball played their second and final game of the UPike Classic on Saturday. The team played in a tough game against WVU Tech but fell short in a competitive matchup, 73-59.

TWU started the game with energy and determination, taking an early lead thanks to sharp shooting and defensive intensity. Amauri Young and Peyton West were pivotal in this stretch, combining for quick points. West's precision from beyond the arc and Young's mid-range jump shots helped TWU maintain control, eventually leading to a 37-29 halftime advantage.

The defensive effort was led by Armando Cuardado, who contributed key rebounds and blocks, stifling WVU Tech's inside scoring attempts. Ty Hurst and Reshaun Hampton added to the offensive push, with Hurst sinking crucial jump shots and Hampton hitting a pivotal three-pointer that capped a strong first-half performance.

The second half saw WVU Tech rally back with an aggressive offensive approach. TWU continued to battle, with Young opening the half with a jump shot to extend the lead to 39-29. Cuardado's efforts in the paint, including putbacks and defensive stops, kept TWU in contention.

As WVU Tech began to find their rhythm, TWU leaned on West and Hurst for offense. West connected on a timely three-pointer, and Hurst added points through fast-break layups. However, a late surge from WVU Tech, led by their ability to capitalize on turnovers, proved decisive.
