#MustangsWin! CBC Sweeps Hannibal-LaGrange For AMC Win Number Four!

            Conway, Ark. – Playing for the second time in under 24 hours, Central Baptist College volleyball hosted the Trojans of Hannibal-LaGrange University this afternoon in A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse. CBC (6-8, 4-2 AMC) swept HLGU (6-24, 3-3 AMC) for the second straight season by scores of 25-23, 25-19, and 25-18.

            Madeline Freeman led the way with 10 of CBC's 42 kills while Xiangliesse Velazquez hit .615 en route to a .244 hitting percentage for the Mustangs. Freeman and Brooke Schmitz tied for the lead in assists with 16 and Schmitz and Sheridan Rogers were the co-leaders in digs with 13 apeice. CBC also had nine total blocks (three solo and 12 assisted) as Faith Stone and Velazquez combined for nine of the 12 assisted blocks on the day, compared to just one block for HLGU.

MUSTANG NOTES

  • This was CBC's third win in straight sets this season
  • It was also CBC's third win against Hannibal all-time
  • Freeman continues her assault on the record book, moving past Amy Schichtl into fifth place on the all-time kills list with 546
  • The double-double for Freeman was her third this year
  • Schmitz's double-double was her fifth
  • CBC only committed 12 attacking errors on the day and had seven service aces to just three for HLG

            The Mustangs head to Paragould on Tuesday for an AMC matchup against the Pioneers of Crowley's Ridge. First serve from the Carter Activities Center is slated for 6 p.m.
