Waleska, Ga. - The Union Commonwealth University baseball team wrapped up its conference series at Reinhardt on Friday, playing the final two games of the set. The Bulldogs fell 12-6 in game one and 8-2 in game two.
Game One
The Bulldogs tallied 12 hits in game one, with Jayden Gonzalez leading the way, going 3-for-5. Cooper Tomkinson followed, going 2-for-4, while Hunter Pinkston and Gunnar Kale each recorded two hits. Logan Romasanta, Nick Seelman, and Aaron Barrera added one hit apiece.
Six Bulldogs crossed the plate, with Pinkston, Gonzalez, Seelman, Barrera, Kale, and Brysen Vernon each scoring a run. Union collected six RBIs in the matchup, with Kale driving in two, while Pinkston, Gonzalez, Seelman, and Tomkinson each contributed one.
Seelman also delivered a triple. Pinkston hit two doubles, while Gonzalez and Romasanta added one each. On the base paths, Union swiped two bags, courtesy of Barrera and Vernon.
Ethan Warren got the start on the mound, pitching five innings, while Jackson Clark took over for eight innings, recording four strikeouts.
Game Two
Romasanta, Seelman, Kale, and Charlton each tallied a hit in the matchup, while Romasanta and Raebert De Los Santos both crossed the plate once.
Romasanta and Kale each drove in a run. Romasanta also had a home run for the Bulldog, while Kale delivered a double.
On the mound, Evan Hiatt got the start for the Bulldogs. He threw five innings and recorded four strikeouts. Dalton Kottmer came on in relief, pitching one inning and adding another strikeout.
The Bulldogs are now 8-18 (1-10 AAC) this season, while Reinhardt is 21-4 (11-4 AAC). Next for Union is an away game at Campbellsville on Tuesday, March 18, at 3:00 p.m.
