
Women's Tennis Rides Past Broncos
Women's Tennis was at home on Wednesday afternoon as they entertained Hastings in a GPAC matchup. The Tigers defeated the Broncos, 6-1.
In doubles play, Doane swept by taking all three matches. The team of Maria Purizaca and Mariana Espinosa won 6-0 at No. 1. Liz Calderon and Grace Schroller won 6-4 at No. 2 while Isabella Castillero and Kat Johnson won 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.
Purizaca won 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 over Josline Carter. Espinosa went the distance against Victoria Harris at No. 2, winning 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. Calderon won 6-2, 6-0, over Paige Willcoxon at No. 3 singles while Castillero won 6-2, 6-2, at No. 4 over Cara Ansbach. The No. 5 singles match was decided in a tie-break as Schroller was edged out by Lexi Benson, 6-4, 5-7, 0-1 (4-10). Johnson won at No. 6, 6-3, 6-3, over Abby Harveson.
The Tigers are back in action tomorrow (Thursday), when they host Bethany (Kan.) at 3 PM.
