Eagles Tamed by the Generals

TEXARKANA, Texas – The Eagles hosted the 6th ranked Generals of LSU-Alexandria this afternoon for their second conference matchup of the season. The Eagles looked to knock off another nationally ranked opponent following their 91-77 victory over the previously ranked 13th Pilots of LSU-Shreveport. The Generals, however, did not let that happen and the Eagles would pick up their first conference loss of the season after a 86-71 defeat.

The two teams would battle back and forth in the first half, the score never having a larger differential than a couple possessions. After a made free throw by Generals TJ James LSU-Alexandria would go into the half with a 3-point lead over the Eagles.

In the second half, the Generals were on fire from the field, shooting 55% overall and 41% from beyond the arc, and the Eagles could not keep up. The Eagles shot only 35% from the field in the second, and 33% from beyond the arc. TAMUT would be outscored 50-38 in the second half, leading to a final score of 86-71, and the Eagles would pick up their first conference loss of the season.

Leading scorers for the Eagles were Doreante Tucker and Jakari Livingston both with 14 points. Payton Chism would lead both teams in assists, with a season high of 8 assists.

The Eagles move to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Men's Basketball will be back in action this coming Thursday November 21st in San Antonio, Texas against the (RV) Saints of Our Lady of the Lake University. Tipoff is set for 7:30pm at the Mabee Gymnasium on the OLLU campus.
