Barbourville, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University volleyball team hosted Kentucky Christian on Saturday. The Bulldogs won 3-0 (25-12, 27-25, 25-16). The UCU men's basketball coaching staff served as honorary coaches for the Bulldogs.
Raquel Kessler led all players in kills with 10, while Jasmine Porter tallied eight. Emily Shumaker and Berkli Benefield each recorded seven.
Maddy McGaughey registered 19 assists, which led all players. Nicole Almestica led the Bulldogs in digs with 10, while McGaughey totaled eight and Kessler tallied six.
"This morning was a good match with our honorary coaches we put to work, and they did great this match," said UCU head volleyball coach Jeremy Wise. "Our players solved a few momentum issues, and focused to finish the right way. Everyone got reps to make it a complete team win today."
The Bulldogs are now 11-16 (9-8 AAC) this season, while KCU is 1-21 (1-15 AAC). Up next for Union is a road conference game against Bryan on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 6:30 p.m.
