Softball splits Saturday conference doubleheader at William Penn

OSKALOOSA, Iowa – Benedictine Softball wrapped up its first road weekend of the Heart schedule on Saturday with a split against William Penn University.

The Statesmen earned a 5-0 win over the Ravens in game one before the Ravens earned the split with a 1-0 win in game two.

Benedictine was limited to just 1 hit in the opener at the plate in support of Lily SinghDhillon and Lacey Foster inside the circle. SinghDhillon suffered the loss, throwing 5 innings. She allowed 5 runs off 10 hits with 6 strikeouts.

In the second game, the Ravens only needed one run to earn the win behind the complete-game effort from Bailey Selvage.

Selvage limited the Statesmen to just 2 hits over 7 innings with 6 strikeouts to earn the win.

At the plate, the Ravens got doubles from Alma Garcia and Ryan Cooper, and Megan Forsman scored the Ravens lone run on a fielder's choice.

The Ravens remain on the road for their next pair of Heart doubleheaders, traveling to Peru, Neb., on Wednesday for a rare mid-week doubleheader with Peru State at 1 p.m.
