Creve Coeur, Mo. – Playing their first American Midwest Conference road game of the season, #10 Central Baptist College men's basketball took on the Spartans of Missouri Baptist today at the Petty Student Resources Center in a rematch of last year's AMC Championship game. #10 CBC (9-2, 3-0 AMC) led 36-34 at halftime and turned up the offense in the second half, winning 83-74 over MBU (3-7, 2-1 AMC).
Sage Borbon led the way with 27 points on 11-18 from the field. Wade Williams also chipped in with 16 and Jonas Carlisle added 14 while Williams led the way in rebounds with eight. CBC outrebounded MBU 41-32 and turned 12 Spartan turnovers into 21 points.
GAME FLOW
The name of the first half was lead changes as the Spartans and Mustangs traded the lead eight times before Borbon hit a jumper with two seconds left in the first half to put CBC ahead 36-34 at the break. Carlisle opened the second half with a three to make it 39-34 before MBU responded to cut the lead to 39-38. A three by Borbon with 18 minutes to play stretched the lead back to four, and, after two separate times the lead dropped to two, CBC never let MBU get close again, playing great defense and making clutch baskets when needed.
