Lady Warriors fall to Coyotes in the Gleason Center

In a challenging confrontation on Wednesday, Jan. 29, the Sterling College Lady Warriors faced a tough top of the conference, Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes at the Gleason Center, finishing the game with a score of 58-81. Despite leading the effort with an impressive 23 points, Korynn Clason's stellar performance wasn't enough to secure a victory for the Lady Warriors.

The game opened with competitive play from both teams, as evidenced by the halftime scoreboard showing the Lady Warriors trailing slightly with 34 points against the Coyotes' 41. Yet, the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes managed to extend their lead significantly in the second half. They showcased remarkable shooting accuracy throughout the game, hitting 52% of their shots from the field and an impressive 47% from beyond the three-point line. In contrast, Sterling struggled in the second half, managing only a 22% shooting accuracy from the field.

Alongside Clason, Bailey Young contributed with seven rebounds and four points, McKenna Vogl added seven points and secured four steals, and Evie Gill provided crucial playmaking with three assists. Despite their efforts, the gap widened by the final buzzer.

Looking forward, the Lady Warriors (9-6, 13-8) will aim to regroup and refocus their strategies as they prepare to face Tabor College (11-4, 13-7) on Saturday, Feb. 1, in Hillsboro, Kan.
